maik was whelped/born May 1, 2007 as one of...

ok i will stop with the bs because honestly i have no clue about maik's puppyhood.

below is the story of how maik came into our lives....

kenneth returned to tinker from k9 training in june 2009

awaiting him was a two year old black german shepherd named maik

and it was a match made in k9 world heaven


was i jealous of this four paw creature that spent more time with my husband than me.....

to many of us this is a day that will be remembered because of a

 historical tornado

to the clinton household it is the day that maik got injured

a ruptured achilles tendon from a freak accident ended the deployment 

and started a five and a half month journey of surgeries, healing, anticipation, worry, and excitement 

maik underwent surgery to repair the achilles tendon.

due to the graphic nature pictures of the surgery available upon request.

remember how i said earlier that maik made kenneth happy

and i was kinda jealous....

july 2010 i found out how happy kenneth made maik

and then i couldn't be jealous....

reunited!!!

tomorrow we will fast forward from july to oct 15 and meet maik the civilian dog :)

Hello Autobahn....

meet the newest member of our family....

our new volkswagen golf (aka as the rabbit) we call her v-dubbs, betsy, peni (european..get it) frankly we haven't settled on a name yet. suggestions welcomed.

 we sold our american cars and purchased this nice european cruiser. another way we are preparing for a complete change in lifestyle

a brief history of the golf/rabbit

it is a small family car that was first manufactured in 1974.

it has had many names such as the Rabbit (USA and Canada), the Caribe (Mexico), and the Golf (European)

the golf is Volkswagen's best-selling model and the world's third best-selling model!!

so why is the golf perfect for us????

*it's a hatchback which means seats fold flat for optimal doggie space

*the golf/rabbit has a long history in my family....my mimi owned two my father owned one, so it is only natural....

*it will fit on the italian road ways nicely...

*did i mention it has a digital read out in km per hour! (no speeding tickets for me! which i am quite proud to say i am 26 and have NEVER received a speeding ticket!)

and we have already started to make it ours! 

so as our departure date gets closer this begins one of many hellos we will encounter on our adventure!

ruth ford is a feisty woman. always has been.  ford has the reputation of being a 'fight to the death' type of gal. however 'rough and tough' she may appear she always appears in style and with class.

ledge fights dirty. always has. he is known for tripping his opponents, catching them off guard, and frankly just isn't appealing.  he hides out in various locations.  he can be seen at your local supermarket, mall, hair salon, and various other places.  on this fateful day ledge was at the church.

ford approached ledge with grace and agility. yet, like ledge does, he tripped her attempting a submission move. ford committed to the fight and refused to tap out despite being held in a nasty arm bar. blood soaked her clothes and ledge as well.  the ring side doc (aka the pastor) called the fight due to excessive blood loss and bodily injuries.

the shirt.....stained with blood of true resilience.

the arm bar resulted in a broken arm that ford now displays with pride.

even matching the cast to her clothing and nail color...such style!

ford refuses to be labeled as 'disabled' even attempting to bowl left handed! (she is right handed)

like a true champion, she refuses to give up her wii bowling pro status so she is using an alias while training as a left handed bowler. 

and she still beats ken!!! 

despite bruising she is still smiling refusing to be a victim to ledge's dirty fighting techniques

ledge refused to comment on the fight. he still fights dirty, finding victims in the most vulnerable situations. so please be aware of ledge and his dirty fighting techniques. should you fall victim to ledge, i hope you remember ford's fighting spirit and fight back with class and style.

for those who don't know, mimi did fall, tripping over a ledge at church.  she remains in good spirits and this was an attempt to add humor to the situation.
